In 1968, while American TV has filled with images from the Vietnam War and the Chicago riots during the Democratic convention, Egyptian TV was broadcasting live television of what many believed was the Virgin Mary appearing atop a Coptic church. The church had been constructed in Zeitun to commemorate the area where Mary and Joseph had fled from Herod. Since April of 1968, visitors to the site had seen the glowing apparition of a woman above the church at night.
The image was captured by Egyptian TV cameras. It was reported that Egyptian President Abdul Nasser, an avowed Marxist, had personally witnessed the miracle. The apparition was said to last from just a few minutes to as long as nine hours. Mary again appeared in Egypt last year. For several nights in a row, witnesses claimed, the Blessed Mother appeared at St. Mark's church in the little town of Assiut.

Death Couch
Allegedly this couch, made of stone, has been cursed by an old woman because her child died on it, way back.
Over the years whomever sat on it died, according to legend. A guy not to long ago sat on it saying its only superstition and died two weeks later in a motorcycle accident.
Located in Eckly, PA. Drive Eckly miners village about a mile, you will see it as its right next to the road.

Family Under Siege- Kentucky
August 21, 1955 this journey into the unknown took place in Kelly, Kentucky.
Billy Ray Taylor was visiting Lucky and his family. Billy went to get some water from the well. While getting water he saw a bright light land in a gully about a 1/4 mile from the home.
Shortly after he got back to the home, the dog began to raise a ruckus. Lucky and Billy grabbed their guns and went outside to see what was going on.
Outside the home a 3-4 foot tall creature was walking towards them with its hands in the air. The green creature was described as having large eyes, a long thin mouth, large ears, thin short legs, and claws.
Both Lucky and Billy fired at the creature, the creature did a back flip and fled into the woods.
As soon as they returned back to the house they saw another creature appear at a window, they shot at the creature leaving a hole in the screen. They went outside to see if they had killed it and found nothing there. Both were terrified when a clawed hand reached down from the roof in an attempt to grab them.
both men ran inside the home and found themselves under siege for several hours from these little green men. The creatures seemed to tease the men by popping up in one window and then another.
Eventually they got away from the home. They went to the local police department and told their story. Once the police arrived to check it out, there were no little green men and a house full of holes from the men shooting at the creatures.

Strange Base and Happenings in Dulce, New Mexico
Aliens, UFO's, undeground facilities, human and cattle experimentation by aliens....sounds more SCI-FI than real life. But one man by the name of Phillip Schneider told a compelling story that is cohesive with several others who have now come forward as witnesses to the strange events beneath the surface of Dulce, New Mexico. Could it be a completely fabricated story? Or is truth stranger than fiction?
A man by the name of Phillip Schneider was an engineer and geologist for the government who helped build underground facilities in Dulce, New Mexico in late 1979. Phillip was assigned to work in Dulce New Mexico for the government, building and digging elaborate underground tunnels beneath the surface. One day in late 1979 an unexpected event occurred. Phillip was attacked in the deepest sublevel of Dulce New Mexico that reached 2.5 miles beneath the surface. Phil was attacked by a species of alien grays. He lost three fingers, and suffered a serious injury to his chest that was caused by an emitted ray from one of the Grays. Phillip managed to survive the attack but he was eventually diagnosed with Cancer due to radiation exposure. No one else in his group survived the attack. Phillip claims to have killed two alien Grays before escaping into a elevator.
He began speaking in public in 1995 about an undeground war with aliens, known as grays, in Dulce New Mexico's underground goverment facilities. Phil was seriously injured and claims to have killed two alien grays after exiting an underground elevator. He lost three of his fingers and suffered a deep chest wound during the attack. Phil was unaware of the alien species that resided and worked in the underground facilities. Phil chose to resign, but was forced to complete the project he was assigned to because of the threat of prison time. He completed his job and never returned for his paychecks.
After the attack, Phil quit working for the government. He continued to work in his field as an engineer and geologist, but kept the events that occurred in Dulce,New Mexico quiet. When a very close friend of his was murdered for speaking of the events that occurred in the Dulce New Mexico underground facilites, Phillip decided it was his duty and responsibility to Americans for him to go public, making the world aware of the conspiracy. After his best friends death, he began lecturing around the country on the events that occurred. His public lectures reached thousands as he traveled around the country speaking in different cities. Phillip could no longer keep his silence because he felt the world needed to know about the underground facilities and the governments knowledge of alien life here on the planet.
Phillip was found dead in his apartment in 1996. His death was listed as a suicide. Mystery and intrigue surrounds his untimely death. Phillip was found strangled by a catheder cord, lying face down in a wheel chair. His friends do not believe he committed suicide for many reasons. He was missing a middle finger, ring finger and pinky finger on his left hand. It would have been impossible for him to manuver his hands with great force to strangle himself. He also had access to many medicines due to his Cancer treatment that he could have overdosed at any time. Phillip also warned his family that if he "ever committed suicide" to know that he was murdered for speaking the truth. Many of his friends and family are trying to carry on his cause and prove that he was murdered for knowing too much, and speaking out the truth.
Sometimes the truth can be stranger than fiction. If Phil's story is the truth...then our world has been living under blinders and that is a scary thought.

Famous Ghosts, Bachelors Grove Cemetery
Bachelors Grove Cemetery is well known as one of the most haunted places in all of Chicagoland. This small desecrated graveyard has more unexplained paranormal activities than any other cemetery worldwide.
One of the most famous sightings is the woman sitting on a tombstone, this picture shows the transparent image of a woman sitting on a small checkered tombstone looking out into the woods. This photo was taken by Jude Felz and published in the Chicago Sun-Times.
The woman's face seems flat, with only a hint of a nose visible. Her feet blend into the grass (which appears white under infrared light), giving an appearance of translucence.
Since this photo was taken, the checkered monument has been photographed hundreds of times without producing anything nearly as spectacular.

A Strange Glimpse of the Future, Time Slip?
In 1932, German newspaper reporter J. Bernard Hutton and his colleague, photographer Joachim Brandt, were assigned to do a story on the Hamburg-Altona shipyards.
After being given a tour by a shipyard executive, the two newspapermen were leaving when they heard the drone of overhead aircraft. They at first thought is was a practice drill, but that notion was quickly dispelled when bombs began exploding all around and the roar of anti-aircraft gunfire filled the air. The sky quickly darkened and they were in the middle of a full-blown air raid. They quickly got in their car and drove away from the shipyard back toward Hamburg.
As they left the area, however, the sky seemed to brighten and they again found themselves in the light of a calm, ordinary late afternoon. They looked back at the shipyards, and there was no destruction, no bomb-induced inferno they had just left, no aircraft in the sky.
The photos Brandt had taken during the attack showed nothing unusual.
It wasn't until 1943 that the British Royal Air Force attacked and destroyed the shipyard - just as Hutton and Brandt had experienced it 11 years earlier.

The "Old Hag" Syndrome
The "Old Hag" Syndrome
By Stephen Wagner
You wake up unable to move, barely able to breathe... you feel an oppressive weight on your chest... and you sense some evil presence in the room... The old hag strikes!
A reader writes:
About a year and a half ago, I was awoken in the night by a strong, warm breeze. I could not move and could not scream. It lasted about 30 seconds and was gone. I saw nothing. Last week it happened again. I was lying in bed and again was awoken. I felt a very strong force holding me down. I could not sit up. I tried to scream for my daughter and could not get any noise to come out. I tried to hit the wall with my arm and this force would not let me. It again lasted about 30 seconds and was over. I really don't believe in ghosts and didn't see anything at all. I am just really scared and confused.
Have you ever had a similar experience? The above incident is a classic example of what has become known as the "old hag" syndrome and is one of many such letters I receive from readers each month. The victims awake to find that they cannot move, even though they can see, hear, feel and smell. There is sometimes the feeling of a great weight on the chest and the sense that there is a sinister or evil presence in the room. And like the above reader, they are often quite frightened about what is happening to them.
The name of the phenomenon comes from the superstitious belief that a witch - or an old hag - sits or "rides" the chest of the victims, rendering them immobile. Although that explanation isn't taken very seriously nowadays, the perplexing and often very frightening nature of the phenomenon leads many people to believe that there are supernatural forces at work - ghosts or demons.
The experience is so frightening because the victims, although paralyzed, seem to have full use of their senses. In fact, it is often accompanied by strange smells, the sound of approaching footsteps, apparitions of weird shadows or glowing eyes, and the oppressive weight on the chest, making breathing difficult if not impossible. All of the body's senses are telling the victims that something real and unusual is happening to them. The spell is broken and the victims recover often on the point of losing consciousness. Fully awake and well, they sit up, completely baffled by what just happened to them since now the room is entirely normal.
Confronted with such a bizarre and irrational experience, it's no wonder that many victims fear that they have been attacked in their beds by some malevolent spirit, demon or, perhaps, an alien visitor.
The phenomenon occurs to both men and women of various ages and seems to happen to about 15 percent of the population at least once in a lifetime. It can occur while the victim is sleeping during the day or night, and it is a worldwide phenomenon that has been documented since ancient times.
"In the 2nd century, the Greek physician Galen attributed it to indigestion," according to The Encyclopedia of Ghosts and Spirits by Rosemary Ellen Guiley. "Some individuals suffer repeated attacks over a limited period of time; others have repeated attacks for years."
Another example:
I am a 27 year old female and have been suffering for the past 12 or so years. It started just being unable to move, like someone was on top of me, pinning me down. And although I was trying with all my might to move or to scream, all I could do was barely wiggle my toes and faintly murmur. In the beginning it was very frightening and I would try with all my might to wake up. Upon waking I would be unable to resume sleep for at least a few hours. Now I have become somewhat used to them. Sometimes I even lie back and see how long I can take that awful, overpowering feeling. In the end, I always try to wake myself up. Over the years this "thing" has kind of metamorphosized into a dark being, something who is doing this deliberately to me for some reason. I guess this is something that I may have invented in my head to deal with it. I am not really sure. After I got used to it, I never really questioned it. It still occurs about every 2 months or so. Sometimes once a night, other times it can happen several times in one night.
What's going on? Is there a rational explanation for these freaky experiences?
THE SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION
The medical establishment is quite aware of this phenomenon, but has a less sensational name than "old hag syndrome" for it. They call it "sleep paralysis" or SP (sometimes ISP for "isolated sleep paralysis").
So what causes it? Dr. Max Hirshkowitz, director of the Sleep Disorders Center at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Houston, says that sleep paralysis occurs when the brain is in the transition state between deep, dreaming sleep (known as REM sleep for its rapid eye movement) and waking up. During REM dreaming sleep, the brain has turned off most of the body's muscle function so we cannot act out our dreams - we are temporarily paralyzed.
"Sometimes your brain doesn't fully switch off those dreams - or the paralysis - when you wake up," Hirshkowitz told ABC News. "That would explain the 'frozen' feeling and hallucinations associated with sleep paralysis." According to his research, the effect only really lasts from a few seconds to as long as a minute, but in this half-dream half-awake state, to the victim it can seem much longer.
In her article, "Help! I Can't Move!,"Florence Cardinal writes: "Sleep paralysis is often accompanied by vivid hallucinations. There may be a sense someone is in the room, or even hovering over you. At other times, there seems to be pressure on the chest, as though someone or something perched there. There may even be sexual attacks associated with the hallucinations. The sound of footsteps, doors opening and closing, voices, all can be a very frightening part of sleep paralysis. These are known as Hypnagogic and Hypnopompic Experiences and they are what make people dread an episode of sleep paralysis."
For all their explanations, however, the sleep experts still do not know what causes the brain to screw up like this, or why some people experience it more than others. But there are some theories:
•"Episodes of paralysis can occur when the body is in any position, but happen most frequently when the sleeper is lying flat on his or her back. Intense fear is common, but sometimes other strong emotions, such as sadness or anger, are present," says Florence Cardinal in "The Terror of Sleep Paralysis."
•For some, SP is often brought about by not getting enough sleep or being overtired. Likewise, disrupted sleep schedules or circadian rhythm disturbances can produce an episode of sleep paralysis.
•It is more common in people who suffer from severe anxiety or bipolar disorder. Some research shows that SP is five times more likely to occur with people who are taking such anti-anxiety drugs as Xamax or Valium.
•A study found that 35 percent of subjects with isolated sleep paralysis also report a history of wake panic attacks unrelated to the experience of paralysis.
How can you prevent sleep paralysis? According to clinical research, you may be able to minimize the episodes by following good sleep hygiene:
•get enough sleep
•reduce stress
•exercise regularly (but not too close to bedtime)
•keep a regular sleep schedule
"For some people this may not be possible, however," says Florence Cardinal, "so instead let's look at ways to escape from the grip of sleep paralysis. The best remedy is to will yourself to move, even if it's only the wiggling of your little finger. This is often sufficient to break the spell. If you can manage it, scream! Your roommate may not appreciate it, but it's better than suffering through a long and fear-filled episode. If all else fails, seek professional help."
Sounds like good advice. The bottom line is that you really have nothing to fear, in a paranormal sense, from sleep paralysis. That old hag you feel perched on your chest may be nothing more than the anxiety of living in a stressful world.

LEGEND- THE MISSING PEOPLE - HOTEL 33
32 people attended an opening gala of The Grand Hotel on the outskirts of town. What happened that night was nothing anyone could have ever predicted in his or her wildest imagination.
On May 10, 1953 the Williamsport Police Department received a chilling phone call in the early morning reporting that all persons, including guests and staff, inside The Grand Hotel were missing.
A thorough investigation was immediately underway. After weeks of tirelessly searching and questioning almost every single person in town, they came up empty-handed. A commission was formed to discuss what to do about the tragic situation. After a lengthy deliberation, the case was closed- the hotel was shut down and boarded up. An urban legend was created that was passed down for generations to come and everyone in town referred to the mysterious hotel as “Hotel 32.”
OnJanuary 15, 1993, wealthy real estate developer, Timothy Miller reopened the hotel, with the goal of attracting tourists as a haunted house. The opening was a big success. People familiar with the legend came to stay at the hotel in hopes of having some type of supernatural experience.
Among the curious people, were local college students, Rob Laden, Troy Belger and Jarod Carr. They set out to “Hotel 32” in hopes to see or experience something out of the ordinary. Apparently, their wish came true. Jarod Carrdisappeared inside the hotel without a trace- never to be seen or heard from again. The infamous legend moves forward in history and the local townspeople renamed the mystical site, “Hotel 33.”
When the Williamsport Police Department got word of the missing boy, they put their top investigator on the case, Detective Richard Kaminsky. He conducted a thorough investigation of the site and interrogated Belger and Laden regarding their missing friend.During the interrogation of one of the boys,Kaminsky died. The police report sited that Kaminsky had an aneurism, but interviews with police staff and witnesses argue otherwise, stating that the cause of death was unexplained and unnatural.
The hotel burned down, shortly after- no cause was found.
The mystery remains and legend lives on.

Ghost Photo
Jordan Martin, 12, took a series of photographs as the couple danced at their wedding reception at Tewkesbury Rugby Club, Gloucestershire.
He was left speechless when he flicked through the pictures afterards and saw the haunting image of a woman's head and torso floating inches from the ground near the DJ booth.
He said: "I didn't see the ghost until a couple of days later when I was looking at the pictures on the computer.
"When I saw it I was like 'wow' and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I thought it was really weird because it really looks like there's a ghost in the picture."
The picture was taken as newlyweds Nigel and Helen Davis took to the floor for the first dance after their wedding at Gloucester Register Office.

The Rake
The Rake is a humanoid creature described as being 6 feet tall, with grayish skin and big black eyes resembling a naked man. The creature feeds by entering peoples dreams and killing them.
Many believe that this creature is some sort of alien, due to the fact that it does look like a grey alien. It could possibly be a (human/grey) hybrid done by the greys themselves. Others believe it as a demon.
The rake is known to show up in someones bedroom at night, it seems the creature likes to watch the terror in someones eyes when they awake and find the rake at the bottom of thier bed. The rake is also known to leave scratch marks on the walls of the victims he has visited.
Here are a few old accounts of the rake.
A Journal Entry (translated from Spanish): 1880
I have experience the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I see his eyes when I close mine. They are hollow. Black. They saw me and pierced me. His wet hand. I will not sleep. His voice (unintelligible text).
A Mariner’s Log: 1691
He came to me in my sleep. From the foot of my bed I felt a sensation. He took everything. We must return to England. We shall not return here again at the request of the Rake.
The first written documents of this creature first started in the summer of 2003, and like the slenderman is allegedly made up creature.
Witnesses and surviving victims would disagree.

Horned Skulls
The existence of numerous horned skulls is one of the most controversial artifacts in existence, and not one that modern science can easily explain. The skull shown was discovered in France. Analysis and X-ray examination of the skull demonstrated that the horns were genuinely part of the skull and not a forgery. It is only one of hundreds found worldwide and is on display at the London Museum. Several 7-foot tall skeletons with horned protrusions were unearthed in Bradford County, Pennsylvania

A basic look at The Greys
They are responsible for the majority of abductions around
the world. They are 3.5 – 4.5 ft. tall,
very large heads and large almond shaped eyes that are black but sometimes
pinkish in color. They have no ears or ear lobes, a small slit for a mouth and
some have no mouth at all. Long thin arms reaching to their knees, they have
four fingers and no thumbs. Some have very long fingers and some have webbing
between the fingers. Their skin is described as grey, beige or pinkish grey.
They are devoid of all emotion.
It is believed that they are using earth as a gigantic
breading ground. The reason for abductions babies! Time and time again
abductees recall the same sequence of events and observations. No one really
knows why they are trying to make babies but there are some theories. The first
theory is that they cannot survive in our world so they are making a compatible
being. Another theory is they are trying to populate the world with being that
is like minded to the Greys, to save or not save the planet.
Some indications of an abduction
Missing time
Waking up with
unusual body sensations. Such as tingling, numbness, dizziness, heaviness, or
paralysis
Nightmares or vivid dreams of aliens.
Sleep disorders, also waking at a specific time
Physical marks or evidence or body manipulation
Repeated sightings of an alien crafts
Clear remembrance of alien contact or interaction
Healing or inexplicable improvement in physical condition
Reactions of fear, anxiety or unusual body sensations when
viewing images of aliens
Feelings of having had a communication
Unexplained behavior
Another thing the greys like to do during an abduction is
add an implant. These can be found in many places on the body. The most common
implants are about 3mm in size, and most common areas implanted are in the
nose, ear, shoulder and leg.
Some symptoms abductees have experienced
Shoulder pain that comes and goes
Nose bleeds
Lower back pain, 3rd vertebrae up
Knee pain, in the dip of the knee under the knee cap
Rashes, immediately after contact
A lump in the dip of the collar bone at connection to neck
Visual marks on body
Hear a buzz or modulated tones in ear, when going to sleep
Tiredness after a good night sleep
Out of body experiences
Many of the experts agree that abductees could be in the
100,000s and many would not be surprised if that number would be much higher.

The mystery of the Angel or Jesus photo?
This angel picture reveals an apparition of a figure - some believing this to be Christ because of the out-stretched arms. Others believe this angel picture to be just that - an angel pictured before the person it is bringing a message to, or watching over.
Almost all reports of this photo have it being taken in the 1970's most claim the photo was taken from a plane.
Elaine Fontes, FL wrote:

This was in a batch we received to develop, along with several others on the roll taken from an airplane window. Our photo printer was so shocked when she saw it (pictures were printed one at a time back then), that she called the entire staff in to look at it, and then printed an extra one for those of us who wanted it. I kept my copy for years and have looked for it many times, but it has been lost in moving. This is a legitimate picture - I saw the original with my own eyes!"

Slender Man
Slender Man is very tall and thin with unnaturally long, tentacle-like arms, which it uses to capture prey. It has a white, featureless head and appears to be wearing a dark suit and tie. He often appears to be floating or drifting. He is commonly said to stalk, abduct, or traumatize people, particularly children.
Often it is reported that he has been seen in sections of woods in and around suburban areas. He has also been reported to be seen with large groups of children.
He enjoys stalking people, making those people become overly paranoid of his existence. Many feel he enjoys psychologically torturing his victims.
According to Wikipedia- Slender man is a fictional character
(The Slender Man (also known as Slenderman) is a fictional character that originated as an Internet meme created by Something Awful forums user Victor Surge in 2009.)
Aleks Krotoski, a commentator for BBC Radio 4, called the Slender Man "the first great myth of the web".
Many that have had experiences with the Slenderman would disagree that he is a myth.

Cursed: The Anguished Man
In 2010, Sean Robinson reported strange activity in his home. Sean blamed the eerie events on a painting known as “The Anguished Man” and set up a camera to share the paranormal activity with viewers.
According to Robinson, his grandmother originally owned the painting and believed it was cursed. She told Sean she saw dark figures near the painting and heard moans and cries in the night. She also claimed the artist had committed suicide after finishing “The Anguished Man” and that he had mixed his own blood with the paint. Sean inherited the painting after his grandmother’s death and experienced the strange events for himself.
Sean had posted videos on youtube of paranormal activity surrounding the painting.

VOODOO
There are many misconceptions of Voodoo, it is said to be evil. Marie Laveau was said to be evil by some and a saint by others. After researching Marie it’s still up in the air whether she is evil or not. But before we get to Marie let’s take a look at Voodoo.
The Fon people of West Africa have a word for spirit, which is Vodoun. Voodoo is how it is said in America. Voodoo is a three tier spiritual system based on god, spirits and ancestors. A single god and creator are very much a part of Voodoo, but god is detached from everyday life.
In Voodoo a host of spirits interacts with humans in all matters of fate and fortune. Deceased ancestors remain a force in life.
In Voodoo lore, god lived on earth among us mortals. He had a servant, a spirit called Legba. Legba was a trickster and one day angered god. God moved to the heavens and wouldn’t allow legba to enter. Instead he made Legba the gatekeeper between the spiritual world and the mortal world.
God made the rainbow to symbolize Legba, because the rainbow is the bridge between heaven and earth. This did not work well for the people, rainbows were not always available. So the people sought out something long and colorful. Enter the snake. The snake became the symbol of legba; it was colorful and could bend like a rainbow. The snake took on many different names in Africa,Llegba, Ellequa, Danballah.
When the slaves were brought to America so was Voodoo the snakes name had changed to Li Grand Zombi or Ouncongo. The use of the snake is very important in Voodoo. The snake also represents with its tail in its mouth, infinity.
New Orleans Voodoo has gone through three phases since it has arrived in America.
Phase One, the African phase: 1719-1830 Voodoo was practiced pretty much as it was in Africa.
Phase Two, Creole phase: 1830-1930 this was the golden era of Voodoo in New Orleans. Creole are persons native to Louisiana. During this phase the Voodoo Queen had appeared. This was the era which Voodoo dances and rituals began to develop unique techniques. This is also when Voodoo began to merge with other celebrations such as Mardi Gras. It is also when Voodoo spirits and Catholic saints became fused together. Gris-gris became very popular, they are the objects used in Voodoo to provoke magic and the act itself. They were a lot like Indian medicine bags.
There were many types of gris-gris but most were used for the following.
Love and Romance- used to attract a lover, keep a lover, or force a breakup of another couple.
Power and Domination- used to gain an advantage over a competitor.
Luck and Finance- usually associated with gamblers but can be used to get a job or a promotion.
Uncrossing- it is used to undo a hex or gris-gris targeted towards you.
Phase Three, American phase: 1930-present in 1932 a movie called, white zombie hit the theaters. After this Voodoo became a popular subject for books, movies and tourist. The demand grew for Voodoo especially among the curious and superstitious. Voodoo soon became big business and now was called Hoodoo. Hoodoo has nothing to do with real Voodoo, its spells, gris-gris and potions. Hollywood, shops, stores and fortune tellers have turned Voodoo into something evil and mysterious. But it’s not Voodoo at all, somewhere in all this horror and tricks the real spirits in Voodoo are now forgotten.
So how did all of this come about, enter Marie Laveau. Did Marie turn a religion evil? Depends on who you ask. On her death in 1881 newspapers wrote of her, some calling her a saint and others calling her down right evil.
One paper wrote:
She was a woman of presence and considerable conversational powers. Her eyes were peculiar in their look and had considerable magnetism about them. It is curious that her demise should have happened within a few days of “ever of good St. John” which is the anniversary of the Voodoos and which has been commemorated by the sect under her agency. She loved charms that brought loves together and fearful of drugs that surrendered loving souls.
It also went on to say Marie was a saint; she was very charitable, helping the needy even if she had to suffer to do it. They also reported that she died with a smile on her face.
The New Orleans Democrat wrote:
Among her people her incantations, fetishes, and charms were suppose to be without fail, and thousands crowded around her to obtain relief, fortune and revenge.
How they were satisfied was neither here nor there, but the believers in the dark superstition and faith covers all faults and lies that made her a sorceress and a queen.
Now Marie Lavaue is gone, the least graceful or poetic of these strange personations of the past, but undoubtedly the most powerful, and we can say that with her the embodiment of the fetish superstition and the last representative of that class whose peculiar indiosynvrocies were derived from the habits of old Louisiana. Much evil dies with her, but we should not add poetry.
There is very little really known about Marie Laveau. Marie was the illegitimate daughter of Charles Laveaux and his mistress Marguerette, who was reportedly half black half Indian (Choctaw). Charles was a rich planter, who was prominent in all public affairs and even served in the Legislature of his state.
Marie was born a free woman in 1794. 1819 she married Jacques Paris though the marriage was short, Paris disappeared after six months. Then she became common law wife of Christopher Glapion, they had 15 children one of which was named Marie.
Marie learned her craft from voodoo doctor, Dr. John or John Bayou. At the same time she was learning from Dr. John. Tales quickly circulated of secret rituals being held deep in the bayou. Worship of a snake called Zombie and orgiastic dancing, drinking and love making. Whites also took part in these rituals desiring the power to regain a lost lover, a new lover, eliminate a partner or enemy.
White masters feared these meetings, thinking the blacks were planning an uprising. In 1817 New Orleans Council forbidded black to gather for dancing or any other purpose except for Sunday. The place of worship would be designated by the mayor, the place ended up to be Congo Square.
There were many Voodoo queens at that time. Soon Marie dominated and took charge of these rituals held in Congo Square. Selling gris-gris and having them work. By 1830 Marie was New Orleans Voodoo Queen. She told fortunes, gave advice on love prepared custom gris-gris for anyone needing to effect a cure, charm or hex.
Marie could keep anyone from harming you, she could do anything you wanted done to somebody. She could easily help you get a lover, keep a lover, or get rid of a lover.
She is also accredited with the blend of Voodoo,Voodoo spirits and Catholic saints.
Others claim Marie knew things others didn’t, and not spiritually. She took up hairdressing, she would go to a lot of, well to do, white folks homes. As she visited clients she would listen to gossip. Some say she ran a brothel and cultivated informant in that way. She knew all the rich folks secrets and bribed folks to get what she wanted.
Ghostly tales of Marie
During the depression a drunk fell asleep atop a tomb in the cemetery. He was awaken by the sounds of drums and chanting. He said he saw ghostly men and women dancing naked, led by a tall woman wrapped in the coils of a huge snake. The tomb, Marie Laveau’s.
……
Marie has been seen walking down St. Ann Street in a long white dress. This phantom is allegedly the first Marie because she wears her unique tignon, a seven knotted hanker chef tied around her neck. But it is said that Marie wore a large white head wrap with seven folds representing a crown.
……
It is said that Marie and her followers practice wild voodoo rituals in her old house. Her home 1020 St. Ann Street was the scene of weird secret rites involving various primitive groups. Fact the house on 1020 St. Ann Street was never occupied by Marie, her home which was demolished in 1903. The home on 1020 St. Ann Street is the approximate site of her home.
……
Elmore Banks had an experience near St. Louis Cemetery No 1 in the mid 1930’s. Banks recalled, one day an old woman came into the drug store where he was a customer. For some reason she frightened the proprietor who ran in the back of the store, like a fool.
Laughing the old woman asked, don’t you know me? When Banks replied no, she became angry and slapped him. Then Banks said she jumped up in the air whizzed out the door and over the top of the telephone wires. She passed over the graveyard wall and disappeared. Banks then passed out, finally the proprietor awakened him and told that was, Marie Laveau.
……
Another legend is that Marie never died, but changed into a large crow which still flies over the cemetery. Both Maries are said to haunt New Orleans in various human and animal forms.
……
In Voodoo it’s believed that when a voodoo queen dies her spirit enters the river of life and moves to the next realm, adjacent to this one. Her spirit will always be in New Orleans.
To this day people from all over the world visit her tomb asking and hoping she grants their wishes.

Cursed? The Hands Resist Him a.k.a. eBay haunted painting
Bill Stoneham’s “The Hands Resist Him,” a.k.a. the “eBay Haunted Painting” is one of the world’s most haunted works of art.
“The Hands Resist Him” features a boy and creepy doll standing in front of a glass paneled door. Stoneham created the painting in 1972, and The Godfather actor John Marley purchased it a few years later. A couple in California eventually acquired the painting and put on eBay in February 2000. Though the painting is creepy, the story behind it is even more so.
According to the couple, the figures in the painting moved around at night and even left the canvas altogether. However, the boy and doll didn’t simply disappear from view. They entered the room in which the painting was displayed. It seems the artwork’s curse didn’t just affect the owners. People who viewed the painting online reported feeling sick and faint. Some people claimed their children ran away screaming after seeing “The Hands Resist Him,” while others claimed to be gripped by an unseen entity. One person tried to print a downloaded image of the painting, but their brand new printer refused to cooperate.
An art gallery in Grand Rapids, MI purchased the painting for just over $1,000 and eventually tracked down Bill Stoneham. The artist was surprised by the haunting stories, but did note that the gallery owner who displayed the “The Hands Resist Him,” and the art critic who reviewed it, both died within a year of viewing the painting. Stoneham has since painted two sequel works, “Resistance at the Threshold” and “Threshold of Revolution.”

Ghostly figure found on real estate listing photo
A Florida man was browsing real estate listings when he noticed something strange in one of the listing photos. He posted the odd image of the foreclosed home on Reddit.
According to an online Pensacola MLS listing, the 4-bedroom brick home is located on 6040 Badger Road, in Milton, Florida and is on the market for $149,000. There are thirteen photos of the property and in the last image a strange shadowy figure seems to have been captured.
Reddit user LaBertie posted the image of the real estate listing featuring a sealed foreclosed home. In the final photo of the listing, a figure is seen peering through the window of the back door of the home.
"We researched the house and found out that an 81-year-old lady bought the house years ago and died inside. She had no close family which is why it went into foreclosure," LaBertie claimed in a post.
According to LaBertie, the real estate agent said that the house has been sealed for years and she was the only one there when taking the photos.

Lansdale Legends- H-tree Gate to Hell
There was an H-tree in Lansdale which marked the entrance to hell. It was two trees that grew side by side and were connected in the middle. There are only a few trees like this in the world, all gateways to hell.
The tree stood atop a 12 foot cliff, and the story is that if you walk under the middle of the trees and around the trunk of one of them 6 times and jump off the cliff, the ground will open up and you will fall into the depths of hell.
It is said the H-tree no longer stands, it was knocked down during a construction project.

Ohio child battling cancer photographed with ghostly figure
A family in Kirtland, Ohio noticed a strange figure in a photograph with their daughter earlier this year. Erin Potter is seen in the photo with a ghostly figure beside her. Cleveland's 19 Action News interviewed the Potter family regarding their experience.
At the time of the photograph, Erin was battling leukemia. In the photo, Erin is pictured running through the yard with sparklers. Next to her is a red figure that some people believe is the Virgin Mary. The Potter family also thinks the figure is the Virgin Mary.
Erin was diagnosed with leukemia in February 2007. During her battle with cancer she has went through many bone marrow transplants. At the time the photo was taken, she was about to undergo her second transplant.
"I know she's not alone, I know we are not alone and people who don't want to believe it, that's okay. Whatever happened, you know something powerful and special was there with us. I definitely have my moments when I'm falling apart and I'm terrified and I literally grab my phone and I stare at that picture." Erin's father Kevin Potter said.
